Zojirushi are a market leader in rice cooking appliances. They have created a whole range of rice cookers, from smaller options for the domestic market, to very large models suitable for the commercial sector.
During my research I found that some rice cookers aimed towards the commercial market can be very cumbersome and bulky. With space a premium in professional kitchens, this can be a headache for many chefs.
There are many websites that review all sorts of appliances for the catering trade.
I have decided to review the top 3 best rice cookers from Zojirushi. This will give you an idea of what Zojirushi have available. Asia Rice Cookers have created a website that reviews many different models. You can click on the link above to view the website.
The Zojirushi – 20 Cup Commercial Rice Cooker
This rice cooker would look at home in a commercial kitchen, or a regular household. The exterior is made from stainless steel and is designed with style in mind, making it a fantastic choice for any kitchen.
The 1300w Zojirushi commercial rice cooker can prepare 20 cups of uncooked rice, giving you 40 servings. It makes it a perfect choice for a small professional kitchen, a home with a large family or simply a family that like to entertain.
The ‘keep warm’ setting will be of huge benefit to any user. You can leave the rice cooked and ready to serve, as and when you need it.
The non-stick pan ensures that no rice burns or sticks to the surface. The pan also has a very handy water measuring line. The inner lid is detachable and washable, making sure the machine remains hygienic.
If you require a large rice cooker that will stand the test of time, the Zojirushi commercial rice cooker is an obvious choice. It costs a little more than other models available but it is an extremely durable and hard wearing rice cooker.
Zojirushi NS-TSC18, 10-Cup Rice Cooker
If you are looking for a medium sized rice cooker but simply do not have much room, this model is perfect. It measures 11-1/8 inches X 15 inches X 9-7/8 inches, so certainly doesn’t take up too much room. It is well built and very durable therefore longevity in a professional capacity is of no concern when considering this rice cooker.
The rice cooker will cook 10 cups of uncooked rice or 20 cups of cooked, making it ideal for smaller kitchens.
The cooker has various modes including white rice, brown rice, sushi rice and porridge. It also has a steaming option, giving you the possibility to use it in a multitude of applications.
The LCD display has an integrated timer. This gives you the opportunity to set the cooker to turn on and off at certain times, this would be a valuable feature in any professional kitchen.
If it is a small and compact rice cooker you are looking for, this is a brilliant choice. It is robust and durable so would be able to cope with the demands of a professional environment. Priced competitively against products of a similar quality, this has to be my choice for a smaller rice cooker.
Aroma 60-Cup Commercial Rice Cooker
I felt compelled to include this rice cooker even though it is not a Zojirushi. The sheer size of the appliance makes it a contender when it comes to commercial rice cookers.
The Aroma rice cooker would be the perfect choice for a medium sized kitchen. It can prepare 60 cups of cooked rice or 30 cups of uncooked rice.
Measuring 17.7 inches X 17.7 inches X 12.6 inches it is a great size for any kitchen and won’t take up too much space. It only weighs 20lbs, so you can move it around the kitchen without any problems.
It is designed very well and would complement any professional kitchen.
This machine has a lid which has been designed for regular use. It is secured to the machine. Dropping the lid is a regular occurrence when removing and replacing from the cooker, the hinged lid alleviates that problem.
A very intelligent feature the Aroma rice cooker boasts is the ‘Keep Warm’ mode. It will automatically switch to this mode when the rice is cooked, keeping the rice warm and ready for service.
A very strong option if you need a large rice cooker which is both compact and durable.
You have to take all of your requirements into consideration. How much rice are you going to be cooking? How much space do you have?
The three models I have reviewed are the best options available and whatever your requirements, one of them should fit the bill perfectly.
If you are going to be using the rice cooker in a professional kitchen, do not try and save money by buying a budget model. All three of these have stood the test of time in commercial catering. You will soon realise they are an invaluable asset to your kitchen.
